The
farm consists of 387 acres with
300 under tillage and 42 planted
in fruit trees and the balance
is wooded. The property has been
an active research farm from 1978
to present and is owned by Syngenta
Crop Protection. Prior to 1978
the farm was a working dairy farm
that was operated with little
or no chemical fertilizers or
herbicides . It is now mainly
used to grow corn, soybeans and
small grains . The tree farm portion
has a mix of apples, pears , peaches
, plums and some cherries . The
fruit trees were planted between
1990 and 2003.
CONDITION. The fields are well drained
and cleared with many drainage
ditches installed over the last
30 years . Fields have been mowed
and groomed and are in pristine
condition . All fences are in
good repair . Access roads run
through the fields and are all
very solid. Site improvements
include - interior roads, 4 drilled
wells , 3 large capacity septic
systems, 2 large dry wells one
for each green house, deer fencing,
trickle irrigation on most of
the fruit trees and 8000' of buried
main irrigation lines for irrigation
on much of the acrage under tillage
. The farm also has 3 phase power
available . The building condition
is generally excellent and in
good repair and additional sheet
